1st Southport Show was brilliant - well supported, ring side parking, lovely flat ring with cheap entry fees and prize money it is definitely one to put on your shows calendar for next year - Champion was Olwen Browns Eddieston Master Matthew a lovely yearling colt, definitely one to watch and reserve was my Tansy of Brown Road the photograph of the grey yearling on the gallery is Brown Road Primrose a lovely yearling filly who won't be battling too hard for the red rosette on another day.

Bluebell obviously preferred the upside down view of Southport - she was checking out the grey clouds - but they stayed well away and we all stayed dry. It was great to see Elaine Barker back in the ring with her lovely daughter Taryn riding Millie of Mojo and taking the red ribbon - although Taryn preferred the purple one - she has so much to learn, Tom riding Eeyore has now ventured into the ring with his dad Andrew firmly in control, big sister Rosie took the 2nd place - another super little jockey.

The donkeys all looked well and despite being a shock to the system being at a show so early in the year, the handlers didn't do so badly either.

The Handy Donkey class saw the Brown and the Moon camps going for speed with Bertie of Brown Road clinching the red, with Tansy and Elizabeth hot on his heels.

Our thanks must go to Lisa Day for organising the donkey classes for us - her lovely friend Becky, who has taken over the Bury Show reins, was on-hand to help today - thanks again girls - you are superstars.
